Durring the Summer months we also train at Southwater Lake. This gives members an opportunity to experience lifesaving in open water.

All of our members are encouraged to participate in the open water training as it is essential to have some experience of dealing with water safety issues and conducting rescues in open water.

We start our Open Water Training on June 10th this year, with training starting at 6:30pm and finishing at 7:45pm, this enables us to get to the Pool for 8 to continue with our normal training.

This arrangement of timing will run through to the beginning of the school summer holidays and from Thursday 29th July until 26th August we will only be at the lake – nothing at the pool. We will start at 6.30pm and finish at about 8.00pm.

Hot showers are available in the Centre building and must be used if you have been in the water. Warm clothing and a hot drink for afterwards should be brought with you.

Lee, Robin and Jenny will undertake the training between them, all of them hold the Bronze and Silver Cross awards as well as the Emergency Response Activity Supervisor. David and Bryan will be examing members for their exams.
